Dr. Alex Fokin is a board eligible, fellowship-trained orthopaedic surgeon specializing in sports medicine as well as arthroscopic and open treatment of conditions of the shoulder and knee.
Dr. Fokin received his undergraduate Bachelor of Science degree at Duke University. He obtained his medical degree from Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans, where he graduated with Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA) honors.
He completed his internship and residency training in Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of Miami / Jackson Memorial Hospital where he was elected as the chief administrative orthopaedic resident responsible for management of multiple orthopaedic services. He served as active member of the Graduate Medical Education committee, resident leadership council and clinical competency committee.
While at the University of Miami, Dr. Fokin worked as an assistant team physician for the Miami Hurricanes football team. Additionally, he worked with the Miami Marlins training staff during 2014-2015 seasons. He completed his fellowship training at Kaiser Permanente Sports Medicine fellowship in San Diego, California where he worked as an assistant team physician for Southwestern College.
Dr. Fokin is an author of eight peer-reviewed publications, and has presented at regional and national orthopaedic conferences. He is an active member of the Florida Orthopaedic Society where he won first place in Resident Research Competition & Symposia in 2015.
